Hello! My name is Khin and I am a Cara (Council for At-Risk Academics) scholar from Myanmar. I am currently pursuing a PhD in human rights and politics at Goldsmiths, University of London. As a researcher and training specialist, my focus areas are peace, conflict, access to justice, and human rights.
My research is centred around analysing the impact of religious nationalism and the notion of human rights in Myanmar. I investigate how the global concept of human rights is adapted and implemented locally, particularly under the influence of political factors and nationalist movements.
Apart from my doctoral studies, as a volunteer I provide regular online education on human rights and peacebuilding to youth groups in Myanmar through an online education platform called Spring University. Currently, these groups are fighting against the military regime in Myanmar, and I am honoured to support them in any way I can.
I like volunteering and reaching out to programmes. Once a week, I volunteer at the International Workers Food Bank and I deliver food to homeless people and migrant people.
