We are pleased to announce that Cumberland Lodge has been accredited as a Real Living Wage Employer – recognising our commitment to paying our staff according to the true cost of living, not just the government minimum.
Under the Real Living Wage commitment, our staff members receive a minimum hourly wage of £10.90, significantly higher than the government minimum for over 23s which stands at £9.50 per hour. This commitment also extends to any third party contracted staff who work regularly at the Lodge.
The Real Living Wage provides an independently calculated voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on. The figures are calculated annually by the Resolution Foundation and overseen by the Living Wage Commission, based on the best available evidence on living standards in the UK.
Mike Durham, Chief Operating Officer, Cumberland Lodge, said:
‘We are very pleased that our ongoing commitment to ensuring our team members are paid fairly for the work they do has been formally recognised with Real Living Wage accreditation. In the midst of a cost-of-living crisis, it is more important than ever that people can earn a wage which meets their everyday needs.’
Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation, said:
‘We’re delighted that Cumberland Lodge has joined the movement of almost 11,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.’
