A message from our Chief Executive

After 11 years as Principal and Chief Executive, I’m moving on from Cumberland Lodge at the end of August 2024, to take up a role with the Windsor Leadership Trust.

It’s been a privilege and a joy to have led Cumberland Lodge for over a decade, during which time we’ve not only built upon so much that’s been delivered since the charity was established in 1947, but successfully negotiated the COVID-19 pandemic – a particular challenge for an organisation that delivers, and is financially dependent upon, residential meetings.

As the process for recruiting my successor begins, I know that whoever’s appointed will find Cumberland Lodge in good shape and good heart, delivering both a creative educational programme for young people and the excellent hospitality to visiting groups for which we are renowned. There are exciting plans in the pipeline, too, for developing our educational work and improving our facilities, and I wish colleagues well as they take them forward in the period between my departure and the arrival of a new Chief Executive. Our Deputy Chief Executive, Mike Durham, will keep the ship steady in the interim.

I’m deeply grateful to all who’ve made my time at Cumberland Lodge so fulfilling, and I look forward to being involved with this wonderful and unique institution in a new way through my work with Windsor Leadership.
