We recently received the news that His Majesty King Charles III has taken on the role of Patron of Cumberland Lodge, shared following the first anniversary of Their Majesties’ Coronation.
His Majesty follows in the footsteps of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, who was founding Patron and a driving force behind the establishment of our education charity in 1947.
His late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, was a supportive Patron and frequent visitor for almost 20 years.
Responding to the news, our Chair of Trustees, The Rt Hon. The Baroness Prashar of Runnymede CBE PC, said:
“We are pleased to announce His Majesty as our new Patron, becoming the third member of the Royal Family to accept the role.
Over the past 77 years, our work has often encompassed themes we know are close to His Majesty’s heart, such as the empowerment of young people, the Commonwealth, and social cohesion.
In fractious times, dedicated spaces to discuss, debate, and disagree agreeably on complex social issues are more vital than ever. We are proud to provide such a space here in Windsor Great Park.
At Cumberland Lodge, we know it’s not our differences that push us apart, but our inability to recognise, respect, and reflect upon those differences.
We look forward to welcoming His Majesty to Cumberland Lodge to explore how we can work together in pursuit of more just and inclusive societies.”
