JP Rangaswami has been a trustee of Cumberland Lodge since January 2020. He is an Independent Non-Executive Director of Daily Mail and General Trust plc and of Allfunds Bank SAU, and was, until recently, Group Head of Innovation and Chief Data Officer at Deutsche Bank.
An economist and financial journalist by background, JP is passionate about harnessing the opportunities of the changing world of work, education, digital and open-source technology, and democratised innovation. He has 40 years of experience of working at the leading edge of information technology development, primarily within the financial sector.
JP emigrated to the UK in 1980, from his home city of Calcutta, in India. He has a honours degree in economics from St. Xavier’s College at the University of Calcutta.
His previous senior leadership roles include Chief Scientist for Salesforce, Chief Scientist and Managing Director, Design, at BT, and Global Chief Information Officer for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.
He is an Adjunct Professor in Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton, an associate of Leading Edge Forum (the global research and thought-leadership organisation).
He is also a Fellow of both the British Computer Society and of the RSA (the Royal Society for the Encouragements of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce). He was recently appointed Chairman of the Web Science Trust, and serves as a Governor of the Hammersmith Academy Trust.
